Fancy Detachable collars

I have developed a collection of detachable collars to wear as jewellery pieces/accessories. They are made from a variety of materials and have a reoccurring folk theme running throughout the collection.

Laser cut folk inspired designs are used to add texture to the materials the collars are made from.
The collection consists of fabric, embroidered, leather, wood and acrylic collars. The laser cut is used to create a folky lace effect. In addition I experimented with embroidery.

Below are some images of the collars on a model.

Leather collar styled with flowing natural hair and feather.

Embroidered collar with floral detail based on traditional cross stitch and embroidery from Eastern Europe.

Wooden laser cut collar, over sized. The design is based on wild flowers.

Embroidered collar using red threads as it is a key colour through out European traditional dress.

This collar is made up of two sections, each one made from a different print I have designed and laser cut differently. The idea is the collars can be double sided or the customer can mix and match segments to create their own unique collar.

Leather Collars

These have been made from leather to connect to natural materials and to folk traditions of using animal  hides and leather in clothing and interiors.

Classic shape based on a peter pan collar. Flower buds and seeds were the inspiration for this design.

This one is based on a bib shape and features folk flowers and leaf shapes in a mirror image composition.

Printed Fabric Collars

These have all been made from my surface pattern designs and then laser cut for an extra dimension to the work. I wanted the pieces to be very detailed and interesting so I combined the two techniques.

The two images above are the same collar. It's reversible.

Little leaf design.

Folky flowers. All the fabric collars are made with a ribbon attachment which allows you to wear your collar at any neck line/hight.

Folky flowers on bright leaf fabric.

This collar has had Swarovski crystals added instead of being laser cut as I experimented with technique and wanted to see the whole print on the collar.

Here I used reverse appliqué with laser cut leather shapes. I like the contrast of textures and the dark leather on the light print.

Wooden Laser Cut Collars

The reason I wanted to work with wood was because the main influences for my prints were woodland animals and \i wanted to use a natural material which linked in with my pattern work. The following pieces allow you to focus just on the drawing or the cut without having a print to distract you from the laser design.

I have left a lot of open space in this collar to show the garment it would be worn over and inject some colour to the browns of the wood used.
